Would you like to learn Lithuanian? Perhaps you are of Lithuanian descent, or married to someone who is? Or perhaps you’ve heard that Lithuanian is the oldest living Indo-European language; that is, of the Indo-European languages still spoken today, it’s the least changed from the language originally spoken by the ancestors of most modern Europeans.
Lithuanian weekend schools are setting up September schedules for children aged 3 to 14. But what if you’re over 14? No problem! The students at Aušra Lithuanian School have ranged in age from 14 to 94.
The main objectives of this Adult School are to teach uncomplicated spoken and written Lithuanian. In addition, there are classes dealing with topics of Lithuanian history, literature and customs, which are taught in English. Much of the work is individualized to adjust for varied levels of ability in Lithuanian. Yes, we do welcome students who already speak Lithuanian but want to improve their speaking or writing skills.
